Writer Blake Gray has penned a thoughtful article about the Coombsville AVA for Palate Press which poses the notion that given the cooler climate and unique soils in region, Coombsville should indeed expand the terroir in Napa Valley.
Gray explains that he has been looking into Coombsville for a number of years. In the end, Gray describes encountering a variety of styles of and types of wine from the Coombsville AVA. He leaves the reader with this: "I wrote this column for December because I know this is the time of year people think about splurging on a Napa Cab. By buying something from Coombsville – these are all relatively small-production wines – you can drink something both cutting edge and traditional."
