2014 Paul Hobbs Nathan Coombs Estate,
Block 5 Cabernet Sauvignon — Coombsville
The five cases of Paul Hobb's Premier Napa Valley 2016 lot is a Cabernet Sauvignon with dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grapes for this wine were grown in Hobbs favorite block of his first Napa Valley estate vineyard, located at the southern edge of the Coombsville AVA. The wine is being aged 20 months in new French oak.
The Nathan Coombs Estate is named after the founded of Coombsville. Hobbs, along with such wineries as Cardinale, Merus, and Chappellet, procured fruit from the vineyards before he purchased the 90-acre estate in 2012. Its 60+ acres of planted vines consists of gently sloping terrain that holds all five Bordeaux varieties.
