Lot 113

Lot number 113 is Celani Family Vineyard's Cabernet Sauvignon produced from grapes grown in a variety of Coombsville AVA vineyards, making it unique among the 14 lots showcasing Coombsville fruit. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and will age 22 months in new French oak barrels before being bottling a mere five cases.

Celani Family Vineyards celebrated its 10th year of producing Napa Valley wines in 2014. The Celani Family relies on the practiced hand of winemaker Mark Herold who seeks, above all, balance in the wines he produces.


Premier Napa Valley Coombsville Lots: Sciandri Family Vineyards— Lot 91

2014 Sciandri Family Vineyard "Mescolanza" Cabernet Sauvignon — Coombsville

The Sciandri Family Vineyard's 2015 Premier lot is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend of five Bordeaux varieties—Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were are grown in the Family's estate vineyard located southeastern part of the Coombsville AVA. The "Mescolanza" (Blend in Italian) was made by co-fermenting all the varietals in the tradition of an Old World field blend. It will aged 24 months in French oak.

The Sciandri Family Vineyard estate consists of 20 acres, four of which are planted to vines. It sits on the sloping ground with a western exposure. Don Baker, a long time veteran of winemaking around the globe, serves as the family's winemaker and brings to his task the goal of producing varietally-correct wines that are painted with the patina of the estate's terroir.

The five cases of Paul Hobb's Premier Napa Valley 2016 lot is a Cabernet Sauvignon with dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grapes for this wine were grown in Hobbs favorite block of his first Napa Valley estate vineyard, located at the southern edge of the Coombsville AVA. The wine is being aged 20 months in new French oak.

The Nathan Coombs Estate is named after the founded of Coombsville. Hobbs, along with such wineries as Cardinale, Merus, and Chappellet, procured fruit from the vineyards before he purchased the 90-acre estate in 2012. Its 60+ acres of planted vines consists of gently sloping terrain that holds all five Bordeaux varieties.

Premier Napa Valley 2016 Coombsville Lots: Sodaro Estate—Lot 63

LOT 63

The Sodaro Estate Premier Napa lot consists of a mere five cases of Cabernet Sauvignon produced from grapes grown in the estate vineyard with sustainable viticultural practices. The wine is unfilted and is beging aged in 100% new French oak barrels.

The Sodaro lot was produced by the winemaking team of Dennis and Mary Britt Malbec who together craft the small amounts of wine produced at this family owned winery founded by Don and Dee Dee Sodaro. Their nine-acre Coombsville vineyard includes various blocks at different aspects and exposures including both hilly as well as flat sites. The estate includes a dual-chamber winery cave built into the hillside above the vineyards where small tank sizes facilitate winemaking in very small lots to preserve a broad palette of individual flavors for consideration during blending.


Premier Napa Valley Coombsville Lots: PALMAZ VINEYARDS — Lot #46

Coombsville's Palmaz Vineyards is located on the west-facing slope of Mount George and consists of numerous, distinct vineyard lots. Their Premier Napa wine is produced from the favorite lot from the 2014 vintage as determined by the Palmaz winemaking team of Tina Mitchell and Mia Klein.  This particular lot happened to be taken from the historic "Hagen Parcel", first planted in 1876 by Napa pioneer and vintner Henry Hagen. Only five cases of this unique Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon will be bottled.


Palmaz is proud member of the Coombsville Vintners and Growers. Located on a 600-acre estate with 64 acres of vineyards on the western slope of Mount George on the eastern edge of the Coombsville AVA, Palmaz produces truly modern vintages, thanks to the technology harnessed in support of the art of winemaking. The winery is a multi-generational, family-directed estate with founders Julio and Amalia Palmaz and their children, Florencia and Christian Gastón (and Christian’s wife, Jessica Louise) at the reigns.


Premier Napa Valley 2016 Coombsville Lots: Cairdean Estate—Lot 14

Roughly ten acres and located in the heart of the Coombsville AVA on First Avenue, Cairdean's Acquaintance Vineyard is slightly sloped with exposure mainly to the northeast, which allows the fruit to ripen slowly and develop complex aromatics and supple tannins. The wine is produced by Cairdean winemaker Stacie Williams and is produced with entirely estate grown fruit.

Cairdean is a proud member of the Coombsville Vintners and Growers one of Napa Valley's newest and most dynamic estates that places significant focus on the connection between food and wine. The Winery is located north of Saint Helena at 3111 Highway 29.
